Version: Tested on Excel 2003.
Keywords: Excel, data points, custom images, change default
It is surprisingly easy to change the somewhat boring, default data points in excel to something more of your own taste and imagination. Here’s how to do it:
1. Create some random values and a default line graph.
2. Create a custom image, using for example the built-in auto shapes.
3. Select and copy (ctrl+c) the image that you just created.
4. Select the data series in the chart and paste (ctrl+v) your custom image. You now have custom image data points!
It is also possible to use for example Office Clip-art to create data points. In the example below I just inserted a random clip-art, resized it (you may need to uncheck the “Relative to original picture size” option under Format picture –> Size) and then followed the same procedure as in step 3-4.
