Box plot template for Excel 2010

I have updated the popular Box-plot template to work nicely with Excel 2010 and cleaned up the default chart a bit (see image below). It now should look more professional and less “chart-junky”. The attached template will allow you to paste your data into the work sheet. Default is 6 data series with 10 samples in each series. The template can also handle negative values.

I can’t thank you enough. I’m not a big Excel fan but this will patch up what I need to present until I get through some MATLAB code or R. Thanks a ton.

Is it possible to enter more than 11 values in the columns somehow? I need to enter 20 values, but don’t want to mess anything up.

Thanks for making this available! There is still a problem however, the y-axis in the box plot is incorrect. I’m trying to figure it out… will post back if i do.

@Dee: Ok, did it. It requires some manual setting of axis limits, but otherwise it works well. Do contact me if you want this updated version (as admin you have acces to my email, right?)

It appears you have put together something that solves a deficiency in Excel. However, your requirement to ‘take a survey’ is actually not a survey, but a way in which these companies and trying to get me to buy something and gain my email address. I don’t want a Mercedes or a Mini Cooper or a iPad, I just want to figure out how to make a box plot in Excel!

I have the same problems like the people above… The download-button dosen’t work with firefox, but with IE. However can’t download the likely helpful template because there ist no availability to my country. Is there any way to correct this failure? Greetings from Germany

There was a slight problem with the template files, but that should be fixed now.

“Please support my work and complete a survey to download this file.
Sorry, There are no surveys available to your
country at this time. Please try back later.”

I cannot download nor do the surveys.

The link doesn’t work in Firefox or IE. The “Dowload File” can’t be clicked.

…you’re the best. I could not have done my box & whiskers project without you. I actually used it to plot out chunks of time when my multimedia lab is busy/free. Let me know if you’d like to see!

    • Big help, big help. And superlative news of cusore.
